USA candidates in tight race in hotly contested OH election

According to media buyers and party sources, Democratic nominee Danny O'Connor spent $2.4 million on the air, while Republican nominee Troy Balderson spent a bit less than $600,000. Pat Tiberi resigned earlier this year, has taken on outsized importance for clues as to how big of a blue wave could be forming to help Democrats take back the House come November. In an election morning tweet, Trump said Balderson would make a "great congressman".

The races, like dozens before them, pit the strength of the Republican president's fiery coalition against the Democratic Party's anti-Trump resistance.

President Donald Trump campaigned for Balderson, arguing Republicans need to control Congress and casting the midterms as a referendum on himself. O'Connor had said he wouldn't vote for Pelosi as leader, but Republicans tried to link the two anyway.

And in suburban Seattle, three Democrats vied in a jungle primary for the seat held by another retiring Republican, Rep. Dave Reichert. In the 2016 presidential election against Hillary Clinton, Trump won all but two counties in the state. So, as Republicans like Ohio Gov. John Kasich - a vocal critic of Trump - pointed out prior to Election Day, the sheer fact that the race is so close should strike fear in the hearts of GOP operatives. "That's why you see that race that is so close".

A national poll watcher says a coastal S.C. congressional district could flip to Democratic in a "blue tsunami".

Ultimately, the results may not even be known for a while. He was previously the vice chairman of Trump's voter fraud commission, which was created after Trump claimed that millions of people voted illegally in 2016. Missouri, Michigan, and Washington state are heading to the ballot box today. While Kobach has the backing of President Trump, Colyer has the support of the state's Republican establishment. Outgoing Republican Gov. Rick Snyder had backed Calley, but Trump is more popular there with the GOP base in the state.

Del Potro, Fritz and more have a blast off court in Mexico
Del Potro had won their only previous meeting in 2015 in Sydney, Australia and was going for his second title in Mexico this year. In the semifinals, the 2009 US Open champion will face third-seeded Damir Dzumhur of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the semifinals.

Senate contests in Missouri and MI were coming into focus as two vulnerable Democrats, Missouri's Claire McCaskill and Michigan's Debbie Stabenow, were expected to easily claim their party's nominations. El-Sayed had the backing of top national progressives, including Vermont Independent Sen.

On the left, candidates backed by Democrat-socialist darlings Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders face off in key primaries in MI and Kansas. Whitmer had the backing of labor groups and EMILY's List, and continues a streak of wins by Democratic women in primaries.

"The American in me is furious and I think it's a disgrace", Maloney said on MSNBC of Trump's endorsement of Kobach, calling Kobach a "nut".

At times, the race has centered on Trump's tax cuts as much as the candidates.

Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley is expected to take on McCaskill, and in MI, military veteran and business executive John James is vying for the chance to knock off Stabenow.
