Chris Pratt's 'Cowboy Ninja Viking' Movie Delayed Indefinitely

One month before production had been scheduled to start on Cowboy Ninja Viking, Universal has pulled the comic book adaptation from its release calendar and delayed filming, a spokesperson for the studio confirmed to EW.

Cowboy Ninja Viking had been given the prime summer release date of June 28, 2019.

Chris, Priyanka, and director Michelle MacLaren are all still on board. Yes, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has turned a huge profit for Universal, but the sequel will still come in about $400 million below the first film, and let's not forget that Pratt's expensive sci-fi movie Passengers, which paired him with a strong box office draw in Jennifer Lawrence, barely turned a profit.

When the film might score another release date remains to be seen, but Universal certainly seems to think it'll still get made; just not yet.

Spider-Man: Far From Home Adds Samuel L. Jackson And Cobie Smulders
Jackson's eye-patch wearing Avengers creator Nick Fury, who were both dusted from existence in the film's after-credit scene. But the question is how? This held true for Cobie Smulders' S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill and Samuel L.

Cowboy Ninja Viking is reportedly still in active development.

Chris Pratt stars as a the title character, an assassin who can manifest the best skills of all three personas.

Cowboy Ninja Viking, based off of the Image Comics series of the same name, would star Pratt as Duncan, a man with multiple personality disorder who is recruited by a secret government program. She recently directed HBO's The Deuce pilot episode. Craig Mazin (The Huntsman: Winter's War) penned an earlier draft, updating an original take by Deadpool writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. With Cowboy Ninja Viking stalled for the time being, he is also waiting to hear who the new director of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will be.

Cowboy Ninja Viking may still get underway before the end of the year, but it's unlikely that we'll the movie anytime next year. This news comes from Universal Pictures.
