Dubai World Cup winner Thunder Snow to be aimed at Breeders Cup Classic

Light has been shone on the future plans for Thunder Snow after trainer Saeed bin Suroor told members of the horse racing press his supremely talented four-year-old is being targeted at the Breeders Cup Classic in early November.

The bay colt was a surprise winner of the Dubai World Cup in Meydan back in March when beating pre-race favorite West Coast into second by an astonishing five lengths. Mubtaahij made up the places but the victor was never in trouble, delighting followers who had him backed at a stunning 8/1. Bookmakers wrote him off a little too easily that day and it’s obvious they don’t plan on making the same mistake this season.

There was some confusion among punters as to where Thunder Snow’s future lay and he was quoted in the ante-post markets of a number of major races including two on the bounce in next year’s Dubai World Cup. Those who like to keep a close eye on the odds will know he’s also as big as 33/1 for the Breeders Cup Classic and that may just shorten following confirmation he’ll go in the 1 ¼ mile grade one event run on the dirt of Churchill Downs this time.

Questions of data privacy, fake news proliferation and user growth have dogged the company. Amazon.com was up 2.3% following its own results after the bell on Thursday.

Fans are expected to see Thunder Snow in action sooner rather than later with owner Sheikh Mohammed eager to get his runner out twice before heading stateside. It’s not yet clear what those two races will be but whispers in the industry suggest the Juddmonte International at York or the Jockey Club Gold Cup. Most firms have Thunder Snow 12/1 to win the Juddmonte but there are bits and pieces of 20/1 still there to be found by eagle-eyed backers.

The current Breeders Cup Classic betting is dominated by Justify who is hot favorite across the board, with prices ranging from 5/2 to 7/2 and that’s difficult to argue against. That leaves punters with a choice – they can claim one of the many bookmaker promotions on Oddschecker and back the fav or take a chance on a bigger price such as Thunder Snow, who is capable of causing an upset.

Others worth a mention in the current list are West Coast 9/1, Hofburg 14/1 and the hugely popular Accelerate, also trading 14/1. It's a puzzle value hunters will enjoy solving.
