Croatia Striker Nikola Kalinic Turns Down His World Cup Medal

The AC Milan forward now says he does not deserve to be honoured with the medal because he did not play in Russian Federation.

According to a UK Sun report citing Russia's Sportske Novosti, Nikola Kalinic has repeatedly stressed he did not deserve the honour.

According to reports, Kalinic refusing to accept the medal said, "Thanks for the medals, but I did not play in Russian Federation".

He was eventually sent packing from the global football fiesta.

Kalinic, dismissed from the squad following the 2-0 victory over Nigeria in their opening match, reportedly said: "Thank you, but I did not play in Russian Federation".

Dalic said Kalinic did the same in a World Cup warmup against Brazil and during training.

Oil Prices Falls On Supply Disruption Concerns
Distillate inventories were also up this week by 1.71 million barrels, compared to a smaller expected build of 873,000 barrels. The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline is now $2.88, up about 60 cents from a year ago, according to AAA.

However, only time will tell if his well-publicised axe at the Mundial will have a negative effect on his club career at AC Milan.

Kalinic missed out on an opportunity to play for Croatia in the finals and could have possibly made the difference.

Kalinic's absence from the Croatia squad left them with just one designated striker for the remainder of the competition, with Mario Mandzukic rising to the challenge of being the sole option up front, scoring three times in six appearances, including a goal in the final.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that two French football supporters have been confirmed dead while celebrating France's victory over Croatia during the 2018 World Cup finals in Russian Federation.

Croatia topped their group before beating Denmark on penalties in the Round of 16, before beating Russian Federation also on penalties.
