But we have had a chance to read over the V5 patch notes, which have given us a glimpse at what the game is going to look like when it returns later today. Shotgun spread is now consistent with no random variation, the suppressed SMG has been amended to fall in line with other SMGs and the hunting rifle aim assist has been reduced to match other sniper rifles. You can see it below.

Will you be jumping in and seeing all the changes for yourself?

Epic Games has also nerfed the "double pump" strategy yet again, as another shotgun will not be able to be fired for "a very short time" after firing another one. That's all we know until the servers come back up. There's a lot to go over in the patch notes but some of the most notable new additions to the game will be the new All Terrain Kart (ATK) and Rifts that will be dotted around the battle royale map. The ATK also features a speed boost after drifting, the roof acting as a bounce pad and passengers in the back being able to help the driver leap over vehicles by leaning back and releasing.

The rift created by the rocket launch has changed the map in a big way, adding a brand new desert biome, as well as two new named locations called Paradise Palms and Lazy Links. Where storm circles would normally just shrink, Epic has decided that the seventh, eighth and ninth circles should move in random directions, giving campers a whole new headache to deal with.

Progressive challenges are now completed by acquiring a fixed amount of XP and is no longer dependant on your season level. More importantly however, the Nintendo Switch version of Fortnite gets gyroscope control support and Fortnite iOS gets a host of options such as autofire. They can be toggled on and off, but will allow aiming by moving the controllers.

There are some other more minor bug fixes and tweaks to the game, which can be read in full here.

Fortnite's 5.0 update is now live and it has brought a number of map changes with it, along with a new vehicle that can fit your entire squad.
