Operation To Rescue Boys Trapped In Thai Cave Resumes

All preparations, including replacing the oxygen cylinders positioned along the route out in the cave, take at least 20 hours, he said. The boys are all part of a Thai soccer team that went missing weeks ago - before they were found on a rock shelf deep in the flooded cave. Note that this video was provided without sound. Thai Navy SEALs and worldwide cave diving experts brought out four boys Sunday, and the operation is continuing today.

On Sunday, teams of divers brought out four of the trapped boys but waited several hours before confirming their safe rescue.

Bursts of heavy rain soaked the Tham Luang Cave area in Thailand's northern Chiang Rai province overnight, increasing the risks in what has been called a "war with water and time" to save the boys.

Interior Minister Anupong Paojinda told reporters the four boys rescued on Sunday were in good health in hospital but did not give details. Onlookers were seen watching and cheering as they drove by.

Five boys have been rescued till now, and divers are continuing with the rescue operations. The names of those rescued have not been released.

President Donald Trump tweeted yesterday: "The US is working very closely with the Government of Thailand to help get all of the children out of the cave and to safety".

Narongsak said ahead of the rescue dive that recent mild weather and falling water levels had created optimal conditions for an underwater evacuation. Narongsak on Monday said their identities were being protected out of respect for the families of those still trapped inside the cave.

Narongsak said the rescued boys had not been identified out of respect for the families whose sons were still trapped, adding that the boys were being kept away from their parents due to fear of infection.

"I don't know if he is out, they didn't tell us", she said as she rested in a hut close to the mouth of the cave.

The group was stranded there on June 23.

A spokesman for Musk's Boring Co. tunneling unit, which has four engineers at the cave, has said Thai officials requested the device, which could potentially help the children through narrow, flooded cave passageways.

After garnering headlines with initial ideas of installing a giant air tube inside the cave complex and using his firm's penetrating radar to dig holes to reach the boys, Musk's latest concept is the pod.

Authorities then struggled to determine the best way to save the "Wild Boar" football team, with the group stuck on a shelf more than four kilometres (2.5 miles) inside the cave in pitch darkness.

Four boys among the group of 13 trapped in a flooded Thai cave for more than a fortnight were rescued on July 8 after surviving a treacherous escape, raising hopes elite divers would also save the others soon.

Some of the boys are not strong swimmers and none has diving experience.

Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha was scheduled to visit the site later Monday, after first traveling south to Phuket, where a boat capsizing resulted in 42 deaths, mostly tourists from China.

Four boys were rescued on Sunday and they were judged as healthy as they recovered in an area hospital.

"Nobody can answer this", he said. "I am following this story 24 hours a day, night and day". It also showed about six soldiers carrying a stretcher towards a waiting ambulance. The sixth and seventh were loaded onto ambulances at 7:11pm.
