Klopp Reacts To Loris Karius' Pre-Season Blunder Vs. Tranmere Rovers

Divock Origi of Liverpool controls the ball during the Pre-Season Friendly match between Tranmere Rovers and Liverpool at Prenton Park on July 11, 2018 in Birkenhead, England.

The German added that Karius will continue to be criticised until "he has a few fantastic games".

Karius, 25, was making his second appearance for Liverpool since his high-profile errors against Real Madrid in May's Champions League final, but Klopp defended his goalkeeper after he spilled a free-kick and Rovers scored from the loose ball.

Amadou Soukouna grabbed another for the League Two side but Liverpool held on to follow up a 7-0 friendly win over Chester on Saturday, in which the former Mainz keeper played 45 minutes.

Klopp routinely backed Karius in the wake of Liverpool's defeat to Real Madrid and claimed a concussion was behind his performance in the 3-1 reversal. Our job is to perform and you do what you do and that is part of the deal.

Klopp then made 11 changes at half-time as Danny Ward made way in goal for Karius, who received a warm reception from the Liverpool supporters in attendance.

Liverpool trio Sheyi Ojo, Harry Wilson and Ryan Kent are all knocking on the first-team door and Jurgen Klopp may be getting a headache.

Klopp said, "A lot of good things; apart from the goals [conceded] everything was pretty much good".

"Two brilliant footballers make mistakes but we only talk about one. I would say the second one, but we don't talk about that". We play the games, we have the training sessions, they are nice fellas so it's nice to have them around and then let's see how it fits at the end.
