The 10 products being recalled in Australia contain vegetables sourced via Belgium and Hungary and are being sold in major supermarkets including Woolworths, Aldi and IGA.

In late June, the Hungarian Food Chain Safety Office banned the marketing of all frozen vegetable and frozen mixed vegetable products made by the plant from August 2016 to June 2018, said the EFSA.

Food authorities said the vegetables could carry listeria monocytogenes which can cause listeriosis.

Customers who have purchased the product should return the product to their local store for a full refund.

It is the first case in Australia linked to the vegetables.

Mr Whiteside said Australian consumers could also be more diligent in checking food origins.

'Real Madrid will always be Ronaldo's home': Club statement
Ronaldo has been the competition's top scorer for the past six years, having had scored the most goals in a single campaign (17). He added that the loss of Zinedine Zidane, who has been replaced by Julen Lopetegui at Real, doesn't change the club's appeal.

The major supermarket joined Tesco, Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Aldi and Iceland last week in recalling more than 40 potential lethal products.

Listeria can cause illness in pregnant women and their unborn babies, the elderly and people with low immune systems such as cancer and organ-transplant patients.

Earlier this year six people sadly died, in New South Wales and Victoria, after consuming contaminated rockmelon, with the outbreak being traced back to Rombola Family Farms in the Riverina region.

Symptoms are similar to the flu and include a high fever, chills, feeling or being sick, and diarrhoea.

A New Zealand Countdown spokesperson said in a statement it was aware of one product it stocked, Bell Farms Steam Veggies Carrot, Corn and Broccoli 3pk 450g, which was at risk.

Some of the vegetables were imported from Europe, and the recall in Australia comes after products were removed from shelves in the United Kingdom over the same contamination fears.
