Arsenal reportedly still in contact with Ligue 1 midfielder

Fulham are on the verge of signing Jean-Michael Seri from Nice according to reports from Italy.

Another user, Commissioner for Chelsea Affairs, thinks Seri might be a probable choice if the Jorginho deal doesn't go through, with Seri being the cheaper option.

The Ivory Coast worldwide has attracted the attention of a number of big clubs in Europe, with Barcelona linked with a move last summer and the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham all mooted as potential destinations.

The Daily Star quoted French journalist Nabil Djellit as saying over the weekend that Seri had travelled to London to seal a move to England and claimed the midfielder was in talks with Arsenal and Chelsea.

Before resuming the rescue Monday, officials said they hoped to free all the boys by the end of the day, according to ABC News . Monday's rescue mission, which saw four boys extracted before dusk and whisked to Chiang Rai hospital, took around nine hours.

However, Nice Matin have also previously stated that the Arsenal and Chelsea-linked star is not interested in joining the Hammers.

Arsenal are revamping their squad after Unai Emery replaced Arsene Wenger as manager and midfield is an area of concern following the departures of Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla this summer.

Fulham were praised last season for their cultured style of play in the Championship, and Seri will be a welcome addition at Craven Cottage as they look to secure survival in the Premier League for the first time in five years.

Seri presently has a £35m release clause written into his contract which expires on July 15 and he is said to have the preference of making the switch to the Premier League.
