Thomas Markle reveals how Prince Harry asked for permission to marry Meghan

"That upsets me somewhat", he recounted.

Instead, Thomas watched the fairytale ceremony on a TV at the B&B he was staying at after being released from hospital.

Thomas also touched on Harry's views about Brexit, saying the Prince seemed "open to the experiment".

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also presented the trophy for the 4.20pm race, the St James' Palace Stakes, which was won by Frankie Dettori on Without Parole.

Perhaps the most ironic part of the interview, though, came when Thomas recalled conversations he had with Harry and Meghan in which they told him, "Don't talk to the press". They both said, 'Take care of yourself.

He was admitted to hospital for heart surgery, where he reportedly had three stents placed in his blood vessels after suffering a heart attack.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall arrived with Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

"I was honored. I can't think of a better replacement than someone like Prince Charles", he said. Harry asked for her hand on the phone and I said, 'you're a gentleman. He's an interesting guy. Meghan loves her father deeply and Harry and Meghan have tried to offer him support and guidance adjusting to the media attention.

Khobane revealed that Willemse still has a contract with the pay channel and this perhaps explains the former Boks' reluctance to comment.

When asked when he knew they were serious about their relationship, he said: "I can't give you a date no, it was certainly a few months before the announcement of the engagement".

"It was just a loose conversation".

After being caught up in a paparazzi controversy the week before the wedding, Mr Markle made global headlines when he changed his mind several times about his attendance at the wedding. But he insisted that he received no money for the shoot, but rather it was done to "change my image".

And where sister-in-law Duchess Kate of Cambridge has continued to wear outfits from her wedding dress designer, Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, Meghan is showing continued allegiance to hers: She wore her third white Givenchy ensemble by Clare Waight Keller - this time a long-sleeved shirtdress with embroidery, belt and handkerchief hemline.

"My ex-wife is a handsome woman", he said.

"I thought this would be a nice way of improving my look, but obviously that all went to hell. I kind of wish she was sitting with someone, unfortunately I couldn't be there but she did very well".

He revealed 40 to 50 members of the Markle family asked for invitations to the wedding. "She's a smart girl, and she made a good pick didn't she?" he said.

"I accept full responsibility, and I can say I'm sorry for those things for the rest of my life, but I'm paying for those things for the rest of my life..."
