After report, Trump fires salvos at FBI, Comey, Mueller probe

President Donald Trump came out swinging Friday, lodging a remarkable series of claims and accusations about a new watchdog report about the Justice Department's investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of emails.

Read the report's executive summary here.

Trump supporters, and then the president himself, quickly focused on the reports recounting of anti-Trump text messages from two Federal Bureau of Investigation officials who worked the Clinton probe and later the Russian Federation case, including one in which an agent says, “Well stop it, ” with regard to a possible Trump victory.

Trump has been eager for the report in hopes that it would vindicate his decision to fire Comey and undermine special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.

"When you read the report, it's nearly like Comey, he goes point after point about how guilty Hillary is, and then he said, 'But we're not going to do anything about it.' The IG report was a horror show, I thought that one line of conclusion was ridiculous", Trump said.

First, President Trump tweeted, that his voters are "the smartest, strongest, most hard working and most loyal that we have seen in our countries (sic) history". Page was less well-known and has left the agency since the text messages were revealed.

But in October 2016, less than two weeks before Election Day, Comey sent members of Congress a letter disclosing that the probe was being reopened after new emails were found on the computer of the husband of top Clinton aide Huma Abedin.

But that report, while damaging to the FBI and to Comey personally, does not support Trump's allegation that political preferences influenced the conduct of the email investigation into his Democratic presidential rival.

That has included, at various times, songs by Rihanna , albums by Kanye West , and the entire catalogs of both Jay-Z and Prince . Another said: " Beyonce and Jay Z acknowledging and tributing the residents of Grenfell made me cry".

Clinton supporters believe Comeys actions, far from hurting Trump, may well have torpedoed her chance of becoming president.

"Among the text exchanges that have been made public is one from August 2016 in which Page said, "(Trump's) not ever going to become president, right?

Trump's lawyers will argue that the report's criticism of Comey makes it clear the President fired him for the right reasons - and the decision was not part of an effort to obstruct justice.

Onetime FBI attorney Lisa Page and current special agent Peter Strzok did not intend to leave for posterity a rich account of their thoughts and feelings as they lived through the events of 2016 - but that is what they have done.

Strzok, replied, "No. No he won't. We'll stop it", Mr Strzok responded.

"Melania and I wish Muslims across the United States and around the world a blessed Eid al-Fitr", Trump said in a statement released by the White House press secretary's office. Giuliani also predicted that Strzok would be in jail in the coming days.

"We found no evidence that the conclusions by the prosecutors were affected by bias, or other improper considerations", the report says, according to the source. But should Mueller finish his probe, any fallout will lie in Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein's hands as he has the authority to decide whether to release the information publicly and when and if he should refer the report to Congress to consider impeachment. "The IG report yesterday went a long way to show that". "And I think that the Mueller investigation has been totally discredited".
