Sarah Sanders pressed on IG report, family separation at border

Liberals think this is cruel.

ACOSTA: But where does it say that... I'll have something on that later this weekend.

Congressional Republicans have distanced themselves from the Trump administration's policy of separating children from their parents at the southern border even as the White House cited the Bible in defending its "zero tolerance" approach to illegal border crossings.

"We are not sending children to jail with their parents", the attorney general said.

"Where in the Bible does it say it is moral to take children away from their mothers?" he asked.

When pressed to point out a specific verse justifying the policy by Acosta, Sanders lashed out at the journalist.

"I'm not aware of the attorney general's comments or what he would be referencing", Mrs. Sanders replied. "That is actually repeated a number of times throughout the Bible", she argued back.

"It's disgraceful. It's awful to see families ripped apart and I don't support that one bit", he told CBN News.

SANDERS: That's not what I said.

Several reporters in the room groaned or chuckled, with one saying "that's a cheap shot, Sarah".

SANDERS: ...of the same legal loopholes that Democrats refuse to close.

Speaking on Thursday in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Sessions pointed to a verse in the Book of Romans on obeying the laws of government, saying, "God has ordained them for the goal of order".

Government bond yields in Europe pulled back sharply, while German stocks recorded the strongest advance, the DAX climbing 1.7pc. If banks have more $$, they can lower interest rates (because they're already getting enough from the bond sales).

President Donald Trump and his critics are each cherry picking what they want to see from the findings of a Justice Department watchdog report.

"It should not be United States policy to traumatise children, and especially not as a form of indirect punishment of their parents", the letter reads.

"CPI's mission is to support conservatives in Washington and we are excited about giving hundreds of qualified, experienced conservatives an opportunity to meet with Trump administration officials and learn about career opportunities", Rachel Bovard, senior policy director at Conservative Partnership, said in an email.

"These people have nothing, they come over here with nothing!" he continued.

ACOSTA: They're with their parents, and then suddenly they're pulled away from their parents. Why is the government doing this? You guys don't have to do that.

Here is a concept: if you do not want to be separated from your children (who get to spend 56 days at the equivalent of a summer camp), don't break the law. The Democrats have failed to come to the table, failed to help this president close these loopholes and fix this problem.

"She did it. She's brought her children into the argument on a number of occasions", Karem responded. We've laid out a proposal. CNN contributor Brian Karem said. "Don't you have empathy for what these people are going through?"

KAREM: Sarah, come on. Given Huckabee Sanders's history of lying, as she did in her tweeted response to the story, I'm going to err on the side and say that CBS is probably a lot more trustworthy than Sarah Huckabee Sanders. "Persons who violate the law of our nation are subject to prosecution".

The flip side of that is that obviously we're not going to get anyone better than Sarah Huckabee Sanders, so whoever comes in is either going to be on her level, or much, much worse than she actually is.

KAREM: It's not that. "You just said that it's in the Bible to follow the law".

But Huckabee wasn't interested in answering that question, however, and accused Acosta of trying to put words into her mouth and talking over her. "It's a serious question". These people have nothing.

"You're a parent, don't you have any empathy?"
