McCartney, who created the second wedding dress for Ms Markle, now the Duchess of Sussex, said she was "very proud" to have worked with the bride to tread the "delicate line" of appropriate attire.

The day started with a grand military parade and the arrivals of the royals via carriages.

The train - which features full sized living rooms, toilets, bedrooms and even meeting rooms - is only entitled to be used by the Queen, Prince Philip, Charles and Camilla.

While millions around the world watched the pomp and pageantry of her wedding, Thursday's visit will be more typical of the engagements that the former American actress, a star of the TV drama "Suits", will carry out as a working member of the British royal family. Her great-great grandmother Mary was born here and she says there's something magical about "fitting in a piece of the puzzle".
