World Cup 2026 awarded to USA, Canada and Mexico

World Cup 2026 awarded to USA, Canada and Mexico

Mexico hosted the 1986 World Cup, while the United States was awarded the tournament in 1994 but Canada, who have appeared just once at the tournament, have never hosted.

The North American bid beat competition from Morocco, which was hoping to become just the second African country to host soccer's biggest global tournament.

"Football today is the only victor". Mexico hosted the World Cup in 1986; Canada never has.

One of the most immediate and significant implications of Wednesday's result is that Canada's mens national team will play at a World Cup for the first time in nearly four decades, as all three host nations likely qualify automatically for the tournament. The U.S. proposed to host 60 out of the 80 matches, leaving Canada and Mexico with 10 fixtures each.

The US hosted the World Cup in 1994, while the tournament was held twice in Mexico (1970 and 1986). Citing a number of high-profile sponsors dropping FIFA, London newspaper The Independent reported that FIFA's 2018 World Cup sponsorship revenues were down $240 million.

There were some concerns ahead of Wednesday's vote that anti-U.S. sentiment around the world, fuelled by President Donald Trump, would hurt the "United Bid".

The report made the US-Canada-Mexico bid the clear favourite after rating it four out of five, and Morocco was not able to bridge the gap.

If that person not respond and doesn't vote over the next four years, they are dropped from the registration list. Justice Samuel Alito said for the court that OH is complying with the 1993 National Voter Registration Act.

"What can really be the legacy, whether we host matches or are just involved with this in some other grand scheme, that can make sure that Baltimore and the state of Maryland have maximized the potential of being a part of the World Cup?"

Although it will be the first tournament to be hosted by three nations, the vast majority of games will be held in the Unites States.

The wounds of 2018 may still sting for the USA, but for today at least, the Yanks, El Tri and The Canucks have won in the biggest way possible.

Russian organizers say they expect World Cup spending to exceed $11 billion, though that tally does not include undisclosed spending on some of the new city infrastructure and stadiums that will be used during the event.

The ceremony will see a fusion of different genres as Robbie Williams will perform some of his greatest musical hits which will then be carried on with some classical music from the world of Opera as fans from all over the world get an opportunity to celebrate the glory of the World Cup.

Federation Internationale de Football Association offered a glowing technical assessment of the United bid - but subjective factors could have influenced votes. In addition, the United bid projected to bring in $14 billion, double that of Morocco.
