With Kim summit, Trump retreats from US moral leadership

In a post-summit interview with ABC News, the president said he was confident that the agreement meant full denuclearisation.

Mr Trump said Mr Kim and other senior members of the North Korean delegation huddled around an iPad to watch the video, which looked like it has been made using generic stock images and news clips. Donald Trump then guided Kim Jong-un to the library where the one-on-one meeting was to take place.

"The issue's inclusion at the summit reflects the efforts of fierce lobbying by veterans groups in America, including Veterans of Foreign Wars, which wrote to Trump last week asking him to discuss the matter with Kim". "And he has that opportunity, and he won't have that opportunity again".

Lee continued: "The third thing is a leader in South Korea that also has his own economic interests in engaging with the North".

"We would like to seek an understanding of this between Japan, the USA and South Korea", Onodera was quoted as saying.

Rodman, who has struck up an unlikely friendship with the basketball-loving North Korean leader, arrived in the city-state some nine hours before Trump meets with Kim in a bid to negotiate an end to the decades-old nuclear stand-off.
