Tiger Woods moors $20m yacht 'Privacy' in marina ahead of US Open

As Tiger Woods chases his first major championship in a decade at the 2018 U.S. Open, he won't be heading to a house or hotel at day's end to recuperate.

The year's US Open also marks the 10th anniversary of Woods' 14th, and most recent, major victory, when he memorably played through the pain to edge out Rocco Mediate in a Monday play-off, which was also the last time the tournament required extra holes.

He'll reportedly be holed up on a yacht for the duration of the tournament.

He also won the 2000 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach and the 2002 championship at Bethpage.

Woods's 155-foot, $20 million yacht is docked at the Montauk Yacht Club and he's planning to stay there during next week's tournament, according to Page Six.

There's a master suite in addition to six staterooms, and it can accommodate 21 overnight guests. The area around Shinnecock Hills on the eastern end of Long Island is full of lovely rental homes and beachside hotels.

The vessel also includes a gym, movie theatre, full bar, eight-person hot tub and a scuba decompression chamber.

He bought Privacy in 2004 when he married then-wife Elin Nordegren and they spent their wedding night and honeymoon on board.

Woods will stay on the boat next week, as he prepares for and plays in the Open. He tried to sell "Privacy" in 2011 but found no takers at his price.

He has already surpassed the seven time champion's overall haul of career pole positions as well as claimed other minor records. However, Wolff said: "The fact is this is a championship that is going to be won and lost with the tiniest of margins.
