U.S. President Donald Trump injected fresh drama into an already tense meeting of the Group of Seven major industrialized nations Friday, calling for Russian Federation, ousted for its the annexation of Crimea, to be reinstated.

Putin says some nations including Austria have offered to host his summit with Trump.

Maria Repnikova, director of the Center for Global Information Studies at Georgia State University in the USA, said China makes Russian Federation look "stronger and more relevant" on the global stage.

While Xi feted his peers with fireworks, SCO members have their own disagreements, with India concerned about China's trade infrastructure project in disputed territory in arch-rival Pakistan.

Xi and Putin also vowed to make "all possible efforts" to preserve the 2015 worldwide accord on Iran's nuclear programme that Trump abandoned last month.

Rouhani said the U.S. was monitoring the global reaction to its withdrawal from the nuclear deal, and a weak response would encourage it to carry on acting unilaterally.

Alexander Gabuev, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Moscow Centre, said the nuclear cooperation deals were "pure pragmatism and a rare example of a genuine win-win" between the two countries.

The three countries are neighbors and traditional strategic partners to each other, and enjoy natural advantages and a good foundation for cooperation, he said.
