Special counsel brings new charges against Paul Manafort in Russian Federation probe

For example, a headline on the conservative Daily Caller website read: "Mueller issues new indictment against Manafort and Ukrainian business partner that have nothing to do with collusion".

The new indictment was unsealed Friday (overnight NZT) against Paul Manafort and Konstantin Kilimnik just days after prosecutors accused the two men of attempting to tamper with witnesses as Manafort awaits trial of felony charges related to his work on behalf of Ukrainian interests. No charges were filed but the Ukrainian who called for the investigation seemed sure Kilimnik had links to Russian Federation. The spokesman, Jason Maloni, said Friday that Manafort and his attorneys were reviewing the new charges. Court documents say Manafort and an associate, identified as "Person A", reached out to two witnesses, identified as "Person D1" and "Person D2". "What he's trying to do is to get witnesses to say that he believed the group was only doing business in Europe rather than the United States, but the witness knew the group was doing business in the United States".

Manafort allegedly sent one of the executives a text that said: "We should talk".

It soon became an article of faith in IRI circles that Kilimnik had been in the intelligence service, according to five people who worked in and around the group in Moscow, who said Kilimnik never sought to correct that impression.

'I haven't even thought about it. In other words, there's no way for Manafort to "flip" on President Donald Trump.

"They haven't been convicted of anything".

Trump has repeatedly branded the investigation a political "witch hunt" and unconstitutional, and said he had the power both to end the probe and to pardon himself if he wants, although he has not been charged with anything.

Others worth a mention in the current list are West Coast 9/1, Hofburg 14/1 and the hugely popular Accelerate, also trading 14/1. Mubtaahij made up the places but the victor was never in trouble, delighting followers who had him backed at a stunning 8/1.

Trump blasted the Russian Federation probe as a 'with hunt'.

As additional criminal charges, they pose additional threat to Manafort and would extend his jail sentence if convicted - rather than simply affecting the conditions of his bail.

Kilimnik, a former army-trained linguist with alleged ties to Russian intelligence, was included in an updated, lengthened indictment of Manafort that accused both of witness tampering. Kilimnik, who prosecutors say lives in Moscow, was not in US custody Friday.

According to that filing, Kilimnik contacted Person D2 in February to inform Person D2 that Manafort was attempting to get in touch with Person D1.

Manafort did not immediately release a statement.

Perhaps more important is that an alleged line from the Russian government to the Trump campaign could be getting clearer.

The court filings are available here. So far, 20 people and three companies have been charged.
