Rumoured Liverpool target Manuel Lanzini suffers major injury

West Ham will be pained to hear of the knee issue, which nearly certainly means he'll miss the beginning of the Premier League season, which is scheduled to get under way on August 11.

Manuel Lanzini's World Cup dreams are over after he suffered a serious knee injury in training with Argentina.

Lanzini was in line for a starting spot in Jorge Sampaoli's team this summer but the 25-year-old ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on Friday morning.

They put up a great fight in the first quarter; they even had the lead down to single digits multiple times in the second half. If the Warriors can continue to blow up the third quarter, they will probably, most likely, blowup this series.

However, any chance of a summer swoop for the Argentinian have been wiped out after he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee whilst on global duty with Argentina.

An 85th-minute goal in a friendly meeting with Italy back in March appeared to have helped cement his place in Argentina's World Cup squad.

Sampaoli originally named a 35-man provisional squad for Russian Federation and will likely select a replacement from the 12 players he dropped for his final group. Argentina have not yet confirmed who they will call up as his replacement. He made 29 appearances for West Ham last season, scoring five goals and creating nine assists.
