Trump, Trudeau Have 'Truly Warm' Friendship Despite Report Of Tense Call: Freeland

It was the British.

Macron called on other G7 leaders not to water down a joint communique at the end of the summit, at the expense of shared values, simply in a bid to win Trump's signature, warning that a "G6 plus one" outcome was possible.

He also refused to discuss what media reports are describing as a tense phone call recently between Trump and Trudeau.

On Thursday, Trudeau blasted Trump's decision to impose steel and aluminum tariffs on imports from Canada, Mexico, and the European Union.

The Trump-Trudeau relationship over the USA president's first 18 months in office started off amicably, with a strong handshake and a relatively cordial first meeting a month after Trump took office.

Mexico has published the tariffs it is imposing on products imported from the U.S. in response to the Trump administration's duties on Mexican steel and aluminium.

Apparently the Smithsonian Institute agrees with the President, publishing an article titled, "Today We Celebrate the Time Canada Burned Down the White House".

British troops burned down the White House in 1814 during the War of 1812, in retaliation for an American attack on York, Ont., a British colony at the time.

"The United States has been taken advantage of for many decades on trade".

President Donald Trump is scheduled to head to Canada for the G7 summit on Friday.

Officials in Brussels, who are leading the member states' response, said nations had given broad support for a plan to set duties on €2.8bn (£2.5bn) of U.S. exports. He's going to have to explain his terrible idea of slapping tariffs on everyone and everything, something that other countries are pretty unhappy about, and they're already trying to impose retaliatory tariffs here in the United States.

Last year, at Trump's first G-7 meeting, he agreed to sign on to the joint statement, even embracing language that the leaders of Europe and Canada have accused the United States of now violating.

However, there are believed to be divisions over the scale of the fightback, with Germany said to be resisting demands in some quarters for a more punitive response. He knew that. There's no way he couldn't. He constantly over estimates both his abilities and his intelligence, the Dunning-Kruger effect.

"We have on various occasions heard the president speak about his interest or his musings about bilateral deals, instead of the trilateral NAFTA that we have", Trudeau said.

That was basic middle school history there that Donald Trump failed in his phone call to Justin Trudeau. "Is it really that relevant?"

In retaliation, all of them have either hit back with their own tariffs on USA goods or threatened to do so, as well as challenging the United States trade measure at the World Trade Organization.

Macron stressed however that the United States was no longer the sole economic superpower in the world and urged other industrialized countries to stick together. "They all tried to hug him close, as we used to say about Blair and Bush".
