Rajinikanth fans celebrate Kaala release

Superstar Rajinikanth's gangster drama "Kaala" is arguably the most anticipated Tamil release this year. I am so happy I chose to come here to watch the movie with the fans.

As for Kollywood, Aamir said, he likes Rajinikanth a lot and that would like to work with him.

Asked about how the film is perceived after Rajnikanth's political announcement she clearly steers away from the topic and maintains, "I don't know politics, so I can not comment on that".

In Bengaluru, single-screen theaters known to release Tamil movies are not screening the movie amidst protests. Considering the pre-release numbers, it looks like "Kaala" has already turned out to be a profitable venture for Wunderbar Films.

Theatres across the state, barring two in Ballari and Raichur districts, refused to screen the film on Thursday despite the Karnataka High Court order asking them to do so, PTI reported. Nadar moved to Mumbai in 1956 and was a leader for a section of Tamils settled in the slums of Dharavi.

Movie theatres were closed in the early 1980s after pressure from powerful clerics who claim that movies are inconsistent with a strict interpretation of Islam.

Despite the Karnataka high court's direction to the state government to provide security to theatres screening the movie, Kumaraswamy had backed the protesters and requested the makers of the film not to release the movie. His request came after numerous pro-Kannada outfits threatened to stall the film over Rajinikanth's reported remarks on the Cauvery row involving Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
