Realizing it was the school where his 18-year-old daughter, Sabika, was an exchange student, he flipped through channels trying to learn more and left her messages, but she didn't reply.

The first funeral for one of the 10 people fatally shot at a high school outside Houston is set for Sunday afternoon.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi met the family of Sabika Sheikh, a Pakistani national who was killed in Texas school shooting, and offered his condolences.

"Please know that the YES programme is devastated by this loss and we will remember Sabika and her families in our thoughts and prayers", Ms Lysaght wrote.

"In the midst of such tragedy, we pray for the victims and those mourning in Santa Fe, while we work to ensure swift and meaningful action to protect our students in schools across our state".

The Houston Chronicle said Pagourtzis also threw pipe bombs into a classroom at the start of the school day.

Family members said Angelique was a strong teenager who took on a heavy role in the family with her younger brother. "This is one of those moments that we say drive people's souls". A third victim, who had been treated and released Friday was readmitted to the hospital for further observation and was listed in good condition, the hospital said.

"We need armed teachers - trained, of course, not just anyone who has a gun, trained how to handle active shooters in the schools", Patrick told CNN.

Tisdale, 63, was a substitute teacher at the high school, her family said.

"My friend got shot in the art hall", a weeping Santa Fe student, Dakota Shrader, told reporters.

"It's my school. This is my daily life. I feel scared to even go back".

"And the next thing you know everybody looks and you hear "boom, boom, boom" and I just ran as fast as I could to the nearest forest so I could hide and I called my Mom". The 17-year-old gained American friends for life with her host family.

The motive of the shooter, Pagourtzis, remains unknown but authorities discovered he had studied previous mass shootings. Twenty-six people were killed in a Texas church in November 2017 by a 26-year-old Air Force veteran.

Abbott, the Texas governor, said he would convene roundtable discussions to look into ways to prevent such mass shootings in the future.

President Donald Trump expressed "sadness and heartbreak" over the shooting and ordered U.S. flags to fly at half-staff for the next few days.

Santa Fe High School, southeast of Houston, on Friday joined a grim list of USA schools and campuses where students and staff have been gunned down, stoking a divisive US debate about gun laws. And also in the Parkland, Florida, shooting in February where 14 students and three adults were gunned down.
