About 10 victims were taken to St Clare's Dover Hospital and St Clare's Denville Hospital, according to communications director Patty Montgomery.

Another Twitter user shared a photo of New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy from the Propelify Innovation Festival in Hoboken on the same morning, revealing that the state official commented on the crash, "asking everyone for thoughts and prayers for the students and chaperones involved". "A lot of people were screaming and hanging from their seatbelts", he said outside Morristown Medical Center, where he had been treated for cuts and scrapes.

The driver of the dump truck is alive and possibly hospitalized, Murphy said.

Police have not released detailed information, but the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said several people were killed.
