Martial, Payet, Lacazette & Coman out of France squad

Olympique de Marseille forward Dimitri Payet has been ruled out of the World Cup because of injury, France's coach Didier Deschamps said on Thursday when he named his 23-man squad for the tournament in Russian Federation.

Marseille playmaker Dimitri Payet was not included in the France's 23-man World Cup squad named by head coach Didier Deschamps on Thursday.

Payet suffered a muscle injury during Wednesday's Europa League final, which Marseille lost 3-0 to Atletico Madrid.

Laurent Koscielny is another big name absent due to injury, while Steven N'Zonzi, Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez are among the surprise selections made by Deschamps.

"He played the first half hour of the final and the situation got worse for him".

"And there is a risk of hurting yourself again with this kind of injury and I must give my final list to Federation Internationale de Football Association on June 4".

Vikings, Jaguars to hold joint training camp practices in Minnesota
This is the third straight year that the Jaguars have participated in joint practices during training camp. Jacksonville hosted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for joint practices during the past two training camps.

Deschamps has a wealth of attacking options despite the omissions of Lacazette and Martial, with Chelsea's Olivier Giroud competing with the likes of Atletico striker Antoine Griezmann, PSG forward Kylian Mbappe and Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele for selection in Russian Federation.

His team-mate Florian Thauvin, who has excelled in the south of France after an unhappy spell at Newcastle, is in the squad.

Chelsea stars N'Golo Kante and Olivier Giroud, Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, Manchester United ace Paul Pogba and Man City left-back Benjamin Mendy are all included.

France have three warm-up games ahead of the World Cup - against the Republic of Ireland on May 28, Italy four days later and the United States on June 9.

Stand-by list Martial and Lacazette leads the way which includes Wissam Ben Yedder, Kingsley Coman, Benoit Costil, Mathieu Debuchy, Lucas Digne, Adrien Rabiot, Mamadou Sakho, Moussa Sissoko and Kurt Zouma.

France have been drawn in Group C at the World Cup, meaning they will face Australia, Peru and Denmark.
