Did Weeknd Scrap His 'Upbeat' Album After Breakup With Selena?

The Weeknd recorded and released My Dear Melancholy, his latest EP (or album, or whatever you want to call it), in the wake of his highly publicized breakup with Selena Gomez. But when his circumstances changed, he made a decision to scrap the whole thing, which was presumably recorded when he and Selena Gomez were still together.

Abel has done a rare interview with TIME where he discusses shifting to Calabasas from Beverly Hills to escape the constant attention, not wanting to talk about personal life except in his music and more.

During an interview with TIME, the XO crooner revealed that he planned to release a more upbeat album instead of the darker Melancholy. "Prior to Melancholy, I had a whole album written, done, which wasn't melancholy at all because it was a different time in my life", he told Time.

Volatile Stock in List: Canadian Solar Inc (CSIQ)
Canadian Solar CEO Shawn Qu said: "We expect a shift in global demand to developing markets to offset China, India and the U.S. Bayesian Capital Management LP bought a new stake in shares of Canadian Solar in the first quarter worth $303,000.

Apparently, we nearly got a completely different project out of the Weeknd, but the darkness in his heart caused it to scrap it.

"It was very upbeat-it was lovely", he added. If asked if we'll ever hear the songs off the project, he replies, "Never".

Canadian singer The Weeknd has landed on the cover of Time as one of the 10 individuals the magazine has anointed "Next Generation Leaders".
