Voter registration deadline is June 1

"If you want your voice heard in our democracy, the first step is registering to vote".

The County Election Board responds in writing to every person who submits an application for voter registration.

Absentee ballot applications sent by mail must be received by the Department of Voter Registration and Elections by 5 p.m. June 5.

The Special Notice below provides further information.

The deadline to register to vote in Virginia's June 12 Democratic or Republican primary election is Monday, May 21. No Republicans or Independents filed to run in the primary, although one unaffiliated candidate has announced plans to join the general election fray.

The final list of candidates for the November 6 General Election won't be finalized until after June 30 as that is the deadline for candidates to be placed on the ballot for posts not already filled by a Republican or Democrat candidate. If they do not, they will be asked to vote provisionally.

OR voters appear on track to show their lowest turnout in a primary election in at least 16 years, ballot statistics indicate.
