So The UFC Has Announced Its First Ever Card in Russia…

After months of speculation the UFC has confirmed it will hold its first-ever Russian event at Moscow's Olimpiyskiy Stadium in September, announcing that Russia is a "key part of UFC's global expansion strategy".

Moscow is scheduled for September 15 from the Olimpiyskiy Arena in Moscow, Russia.

However, tickets are set to go on sale June 1 so you can expect to hear some announcements in the coming weeks.

UFC President Dana White has frequently spoken of Russian Federation being a desired destination, but the territory remained a hard market to get a foothold in. Alexander Volkov (30-6), a Moscow native, ranks as the UFC's No. 3 heavyweight contender.

With Khabib Nurmagomedov's recent championship victory making him the first ever Russian UFC champion, it seemed like he would be the obvious choice for UFC's first event in the country.
