The driver was unable to avoid hitting the man.

The man died at the scene.

The state patrol does have accident re-constructionists on scene.

It appears the man had got out of his vehicle after he struck the barrels protecting a bridge abutment for an overpass. The officer who struck the person is a 36-year-old with 12 years of law enforcement service. He was treated and released.

A separate crash occurred in the same general location prior to the pedestrian crash.

Jets WR Robby Anderson's felony resisting arrest charge dropped
It's not easy bouncing back when one gets arrested twice in a span of less than a year but such is the case with Anderson. Despite his recent run-ins with the law, it seems that Anderson will remain with the Jets for this upcoming season.

Interstate 70 was shut down for several hours but reopened during the early morning hours Thursday.

A Chevrolet Corsica was eastbound on I-94, entered the median and struck the orange barrels protecting the bridge abutment.

Both crashes remain under investigation. According to police, the St. Charles County officer was traveling westbound on I-70 when he struck a pedestrian walking in the center westbound lane. Witnesses told investigators the pedestrian, whose name was not immediately released, was trying to cross the interstate east of the Cave Springs exit.

It is unclear if the driver of the crashed vehicle was the one killed.

The semi driver wasn't hurt but was shaken up emotionally and taken to a Fargo hospital. A Highway Patrol trooper had just responded to the scene.
