Nev Schulman Under Investigation for Sexual Misconduct, 'Catfish' Production Suspended

"We take these allegations very seriously", MTV said in a statement issued to Newsweek. No information was available about what the allegations are against Schulman, 33, who is a married father of a young girl. "We're working with Critical Content, our third-party production company, to conduct a thorough investigation and we've put a pause on shooting until the investigation is completed".

Schulman has a history of misconduct allegations.

Back In 2006, he was kicked out of Sarah Lawrence College for punching a woman in the face at the school's annual Sleaze Ball dance.

Many criticized the MTV host for his attitude toward the incident, citing things like referring to the woman as a "short, stocky, crew-cut-styled individual" as being insensitive.

She also testified she flagged down a passerby to call 911 on Foster after considering whether to falsify charges following a verbal altercation.

However, the woman he assaulted told Vulture that she approached him after she noticed him taking pictures of people without their consent. On the MTV show, he and filmmaking partner Max Joseph help other couples who have met online meet in real life - some who find out that they, too, have been catfished. They share a daughter, Cleo James.

Schulman rose to fame thanks to his 2010 documentary film Catfish, which went on to serve as inspiration for the now MTV hit.

A request for comment from Schulman was not immediately returned.

Nev Schulman, host and executive producer of "Catfish", has been accused of sexual misconduct.
