Need a Vacation? San Antonio Airport Announces New Flights to Nine Cities

Frontier Airlines is celebrating 5 years at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

The new Frontier flights will bring the total nonstop destinations from San Antonio's airport to 53, including direct flights to five cities in Mexico and to Toronto in Canada.

The airline is kicking off the service with a $59 special introductory one-way fare. The sale runs through 11:59 p.m. Friday, for travel through November 14 on Mondays only. It will leave Omaha at 10 a.m. and arrive in San Antonio at 12:23 p.m.

United Airlines is increasing nonstop service between Newark Liberty International Airport and 15 destinations, including Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport.

In addition to the nine flights announced Thursday, which will be offered seasonally, Frontier added five flights last fall and another five in April. Those routes, and several others, were eliminated previous year after other airlines - chiefly United - cut fares to compete.

Frontier Airlines is considered an ultra-low cost carrier, which combines cheap fares with extra fees for amenities like advanced seat assignments, luggage and beverages.

The low-fare airline already flies from Omaha to Austin, Texas, Denver, Las Vegas, Orlando and Philadelphia and is starting a San Francisco flight on June 6.
