Indiana Pacers star Victor Oladipo to start Indy 500

Oladipo will drive the pace vehicle at the 2018 Indianapolis 500 - the 102nd installment of the race.

From forgotten role player in Oklahoma City to the star of in, the past several months has been a whirlwind for Pacers All-Star guard Victor Oladipo.

Oladipo led the Pacers to a near-upset of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the playoffs after being traded to in in the offseason.

Oladipo played three seasons at Indiana University before being drafted.

"This is a tremendous honour for me", Oladipo said in a statement.

But Lynn Calder, commercial director of Ineos Shale, welcomed the Government's announcement as a "step in the right direction". Today Business Secretary Greg Clark announced proposals to scrap the need for fracking sites to get planning permission.

He will lead the 33-car field to the starting line in a 2019 Corvette ZR1. Excited is a huge understatement to how I feel about this.

Oladipo finished the season averaging more than 23 points, 5.2 rebounds and a league-leading 2.4 steals a game.

The Corvette ZR1 can accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in 2.85 seconds and reach a top track speed of 212 miles per hour, the fastest Corvette in history. Indianapolis Motor Speedway made the announcement Thursday morning.
