Buffon To Depart Juventus End Of Season

According to a statement by the club, the 40-year-old goalkeeper made this known in a press conference this morning.

"I can only thank the President for his words".

"I've told him this so many times, but Gigi is a good guy he just laughs and nearly always replies: "maybe it's better this way". My principles have always been honesty, loyalty and hypocrisy struggle", Buffon said. These feelings are children of an extraordinary and lovely journey, shared with people who have loved me. It's a very emotional day for me and I'm here off the back of an extraordinary and wonderful journey, shared with people who have cared about me greatly. "I don't see him in America or China, Gigi is someone who has always played to reach goals, to win".

"Saturday will be my last game for Juventus and I think it will be the best way to end this fantastic adventure".

"My fear was to get to the end as a player with a broken engine but it's not like this".

Despite previously having opportunities to test his skills in other areas of the world, Buffon turned them down and admits it is a slight regret when reflecting on his career.

Instead, while the 40-year-old Buffon says the Serie A match against Hellas Verona on Saturday will be his last for Juventus, he has received offers to play elsewhere which have changed his mind about retiring.

"The most stimulating proposal out of the camp was sent to me by the President", he added.

"Next week, after two or three days of reflection and serenity, I will make my decision". He won Serie A nine times and the Coppa Italia five times, while he also lifted the UEFA Cup with Parma in 1999.

Juve and Italy great Buffon is expected to reveal his future plans on Thursday amid speculation the 40-year-old goalkeeper and 176-cap global will retire.
