TN 12th Result 2018: Girls outperform boys

TNBSE is a board of school education, which supervises and regulates the work for advancement and expansion of secondary education in Tamil Nadu. The students are advised to visit the board's official website www.tnresults.nic.in to check their Class 12th or HSC +2 result 2018. Girls performed better with a pass percentage of 94.5 as compared to 89.3% for boys. As many as 8,98,763 students appeared in the HSC exams and almost 95 per cent will get their result through SMS as well.

In 2015, the overall pass percentage was 90.6% in which girls achieved a pass percentage of 93% and boys secured 87%. A huge number of candidates have appeared in this examination and gave this exam successfully at pre defined exam centres.

To pass the exams, students need to score a minimum of 30 marks out of 150 in theory examination and 40 marks out of 50 in practical exams.

This year, of the 6754 schools that took part in the exams, 1907 schools reported 100% pass percentage.

Last year, in what was perceived as a first for the state, the education minister declared that the first three ranks will not be announced to avoid unnecessary pressure to perform on students.
