Stephen Piscotty Homers in First At-Bat Since Returning From Bereavement List

Oakland Athletics right fielder Stephen Piscotty has been activated from the bereavement list and is starting on Tuesday versus the Boston Red Sox.

. In his first game after Gretchen's death last Wednesday, Piscotty received a standing ovation from the Oakland crowd, which lasted for almost a minute prior to his at-bat. The gesture, he said last week after his mom died following a year-long battle with ALS, was her way of signaling, "I love you and thank you" in her final days. Still, he smiled ear-to-ear as he went down the receiving line in the dugout, high-fiving each of his teammates after staking them to a 3-0 lead.
