Spike Lee Goes On Profane Rant Against Trump At French Film Festival

In a passionate, expletive-ridden monologue at the Cannes Film Festival, Spike Lee has lambasted President Trump over his response to last year's violent white supremacist protest in Charlottesville, Virginia. And that mother**ker did not denounce the mother**king Klan, the alt-right, and those Nazis mother**kers. "It was his defining moment and he could have said to the world "not the United States" and that we were better than that".

Actor John David Washington, from left, director Spike Lee, and Adam Driver pose for photographers during a photo call for the film "BlacKkKlansman" at the 71st worldwide film festival, Cannes, southern France. Based on the memoir from Colorado Springs' first Black detective (not the Chappelle's Show sketch), the film follows Detective Ron Stallworth (John David Washington, son of Denzel), infiltrating the Ku Klux Klan in the 1970s with the help of an undercover cop (Adam Driver). Before inserting footage of the vehicle that plowed through crowds in Virginia, killing counter-protester Heather Heyer, Lee said he telephoned Heyer's mother.

Lee criticized Trump's response to a white nationalist rally Charlottesville, Va. last summer, and reportedly referred to the president as a "mother--". I was not gonna put that murder scene in the film without her blessing. Now we have our first look at how these events will unfold under Lee's cinematic supervision thanks to the first BlacKkKlansman trailer.

Weeping helplessly, a mother cradles her lifeless eight-month-old daughter yesterday - an apparent victim of Israeli tear gas. At the back of the room, 11-year-old Ammar sobs uncontrollably as he looks at the corpse.

"That motherf****r was given a chance to say "We are about love and not hate", he said. "This is not just something that pertains to the United States of America, this bulls- has gone over the world".

"The so-called American cradle of democracy, that's bulls-", he said. This right-wing bullshit is not just America, it is all over the world, and we have to wake up. The United States of America was built on the genocide of native people and slavery. "That is the fabric of the United States of America", he said. It's not black, white, or brown. We all live on this planet, and this guy in the White House has the nuclear code.

"I told my agents I wanted to be in contention for that part and everyone went, 'Huh?'" the actor told Vulture.
