Massive dust storm hits Delhi-NCR in early morning today

This was the second such storm to hit the national capital in the past four days. Also, the sources are saying that two people died in Delhi and one died in Uttarakhand, as per the ministry spokesperson reports.

The weather turbulence will subside by Wednesday, however, a fresh round of scattered thundershowers may hit the Western Himalayan region, east India and south peninsular India early next week, the Met office forecast said.

As many as 59 calls about fallen trees, five calls about fallen electricity poles and 11 calls about hoardings/wall collapse were received by the PCR, police said.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had said that the thunderstorm will continue for the next 48 to 72 hours.

Wednesday's storm comes days after the heavy winds and rain killed over 75 people across Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi-NCR region. Subsequently, on 9 May, several parts of Uttar Pradesh were struck by a severe storm that left 18 dead and 27 others injured, stated the report. In the south, Telangana, Rayalaseema, interior areas of south Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are likely to see thunderstorm activity on Monday.
