Kami Rita Sherpa scales Mount Everest for record 22nd time

According to alpinist and mountain chronicler Alan Arnette, who year is following the events on the highest mountain on in the world this year for the USA magazine Outside Online, at an altitude of 8500 meters 10 of the 39 regulators used by clients and Sherpa suddenly stopped working.

Of those who reached the top of the mountain this season, it's worth mentioning Kami Rita Sherpa who has summited for a record 22 time.

Nepalese veteran Sherpa guide, Kami Rita, 48, climbed Mount Everest for the record 22nd time.

Climbing from the Chinese side of the mountain, Sherpa's trip the summit extended her own women's record.

A boom in climbers has made mountaineering a lucrative business since Sir Edmund Hillary and sherpa Tenzing Norgay made the first ascent in 1953. His brother has scaled Everest 17 times.

The first summit wave happened Monday when some 50 mountaineers and Sherpa guides scaled it. Most of his male relatives have reached the top at least once.

The rapid growth in the climbing industry has accompanied complaints of overcrowding on the mountain and fears that inexperienced mountaineers could run into trouble.

A year ago seven people lost their lives on the world's highest peak, while 449 summited from the Nepal side and at least another 120 made it to the top from the north side in Tibet.

Mingma Gelu Sherpa, Managing Director at Seven Summit Adventure told THT from the base camp that Lhakpa along with a team led by Alex Abramov made it to the summit at around 5:40 am.

Both of the other previous record holders are retired from climbing.

The route to the summit was opened up by a team of Sherpa guides earlier this week. More than 340 foreign climbers along with several of their local guides are attempting to climb Everest this month.
