Celtics D swarm Cavs in Game 1

Celtics D swarm Cavs in Game 1

The Celtics scored 61 points in the first half against the Cavs, allowing only 35 points.

Stevens' point, that sometimes it's beneficial to go into a series against a veteran group like the Cavaliers without the emotional luggage and memory of an older team, gains clarity with each game.

With that being said, the C's can't let the anticipation of a bounce-back game from James and the Cavs allow them to lose sight of their own game plan. Since he came back to Cleveland, since I've been here, he's always responded big. "We weren't going to adjust until someone beat us".

Though they have only made it through game one of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Boston Celtics have shown that they can beat the best player in the world and his team easily.

Losing in Game 1 is nothing unusual for James. But if the Celtics can keep getting a body on their quality shooters, and give their questionable ones free space to keep launching bricks, maybe those struggles from downtown will continue for the Cavaliers.

But James came out like a man on a mission in Game 6, putting up a line of 45 points, 15 rebounds and five assists in the Heat's win.

"I think we're very alert to the fact that we'll get a heavyweight punch on Tuesday night", Celtics coach Brad Stevens said.

You know, this Jayson Tatum. They also have the depth needed to execute constantly, that way they can still put in their top guys when they are needed the most. That, JR Smith said, is a sign James' supporting cast needs to do more.

Lightning avenge home losses with Game 3 win at Capitals
There was a time when the Washington Capitals couldn't be trusted to advance past the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. They also surrendered a 6-on-5 goal to Evgeny Kuznetsov with 3:02 left that made things interesting in the final minutes.

As we saw all throughout the first round, James didn't get much help from his teammates. "The more effective we are, the more it opens up for him".

"I've got a great sense of the way they played me [Sunday] and how I'll play going into Game 2", James said.

Thompson's strategy against Horford doesn't sound complicated. He was even brought into the starting lineup to match the Cavaliers small ball lineup where he could guard James right from the start. That lineup tormented the Raptors last series.

Auerbach's spirit was definitely with the Celtics that 2007-2008 season, as they won the National Basketball Association championship that year, spearheaded by their Big Three of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. I imagine it'll be a lot like Game 2 against Indiana. This year was all about the culture change for Toronto, embracing an offense that made quick decisions and used the five players on the floor to creates openings in the defense that they could attack, rather than trying to force shots from their best players regardless of defensive looks.

"Horford's a very good player".

Al Horford said Tuesday morning ahead of shootaround that the key heading into Game 2 is, "Just understanding that this is another challenge".

With 0.02 remaining in the 3rd quarter, Clevelands Jeff Green made a 21-foot fadeaway shot to cut the deficit to 14, 78-64.

None of that is a factor this time around for a rebuilt roster that despite being down two All-Stars in Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, has found a synergy with its remaining group. With the Cavs down 26 points at halftime, The Q started emptying slowly. Just gaudy numbers for a guy in his 15th season. "(Cleveland is) here for a reason, because of the talent that they have.
