PM Modi 'Influencing' Karnataka Elections By Visiting Nepal, Says Congress

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today visited Nepal's iconic Muktinath temple and offered special prayer there. Gehlot told ANI. "Modi planned to visit Nepal today because there is model code of conduct in Karnataka", he alleged.

As Modi visited the revered Pashupatinath and Muktinath temples, AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot said, "This is not a good tradition in a democracy".

Foreign secretary Vijay Gokhale, who was in Kathmandu along with PM Modi, refuted Gehlot's charge when he was asked about it by reporters. The results of the election battle will be declared on Tuesday, May 15.

According to the report, the Congress' Siddaramaiah, the Chief Minister of Karnataka also said Modi knew that his party would be defeated in the upcoming Karnataka Assembly Election.

Briefing Nepals Parliament on Prime Minister Modis two-day state visit, Oli said the visit has elevated bilateral ties to new heights. He became the first world leader to do so.

He also visited the famous Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu, the most sacred and oldest temple of Shiva in the country and offered prayers. "It clearly shows that Modi came to know that BJP would be defeated".

This is the third visit of PM Modi to Nepal, and the first high-level visit from India since the formation of the new government in Nepal this year. "Whenever state visits take place they are decided as per the convenience of the two nations". Prime Minister Oli had then expressed his desire for an early visit by Prime Minister Modi. She said, "PM was a religious man and visits temples wherever he goes. No one but the Prime Minister alone can say that I will come at this time.So, don't focus on the dates, but focus on the content of this visit", he said.
