Metro girder collapses in Ghaziabad

Five people were injured when an iron girder fell off the elevated section of a Metro rail structure being constructed at the Mohan Nagar intersection in Ghaziabad on Monday morning, police said. A vehicle and an auto-rickshaw were crushed after the girder fell on them.

The 9.41-km elevated rail route, which will extend the Dilshad Garden metro corridor to a new bus stand in Ghaziabad, is now under construction.

The DMRC is verifying the details of the incident, the statement further elaborated.

According to the reports, the chief project manager and the general manager/safety of DMRC have reached the site of the mishap.
