Queen Elizabeth II celebrates 92nd birthday

Queen Elizabeth II celebrates 92nd birthday

But this year, the queen will be celebrating on her actual birthday, April 21st, with a party including performances by Shaggy, Sting, Kylie Minogue, Craig David, Shawn Mendes, and Tom Jones.

The Queen and other members of the royal family will attend a star-studded concert at London's Royal Albert Hall on Saturday night, according to the official royal Twitter account.

The queen celebrates two birthdays every year: Her actual birthday on April. 21, which she usually marks privately with her family, and her "official birthday" in the summer.

Earlier in the day, honorary gun salutes were staged in Hyde Park, the Tower of London and the town of Windsor to mark the occasion.

Corker gives tepid endorsement for GOP candidate running to replace him
Thursday afternoon, the President tweeted his support for the Republican United States Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn. Corker's laughed uncomfortably. "I'm supporting the nominee", he said. "Do I think the president is going to run?"

Organisers say the concert, coming at the end of the week when the United Kingdom hosted 53 countries for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, will have a strong Commonwealth flavour. The major beneficiary of Saturday's event, televised live on BBC TV and radio, will be the Queen's Commonwealth Trust youth charity; her grandson Prince Harry was appointed its president this week.

The Queen also has an "official" birthday in June, which is marked with a large parade of soldiers through central London, known as Trooping the Colour.

The queen has been the symbolic head of the Commonwealth since her father king George VI's death in 1952, but its leaders agreed on Friday that her son and heir Prince Charles should succeed her.
