Senate Intel Committee announces hearing date for Central Intelligence Agency nominee Haspel

"Senators and the public need to know more about her record".

The Central Intelligence Agency released an unclassified but partially redacted version of an internal memo Friday finding "no fault" on the part of current director nominee Gina Haspel regarding the destruction of infamous tapes. She drafted a cable, under instruction from her boss, Mr. Rodriguez, that he sent, under his name and authority, ordering that the tapes be destroyed.

"The Director of National Intelligence said that every effort will be made to fully explain exactly what her role was and what it wasn't". "This was all studied by a special prosecutor". Clarity about Haspel's involvement is one key to the deputy director's chances for Senate confirmation to be the director. However, given new scrutiny from Capitol Hill, he claims he was "under the impression that the chain of command did not think it was illegal to destroy the tapes but that no one wanted to make the decision at the time".

"My decision on the question of accountability was that Mr. Rodriguez was who should be held accountable and reprimanded". When Trump chose to order a missile attack on a Syrian airfield in response to chemical weapons attacks past year, Haspel was among the officials in the White House situation room with Vice President Mike Pence. But for much of her career, she was a working spy.

"The review shows that Deputy Director Haspel has been consistent and clear in describing her role in the incident".

That experience may make her a popular choice for employees at the agency's Langley, Virginia, headquarters. The groups called her "unfit" to lead the agency, saying the CIA should declassify information about her participation in "enhanced interrogation" programs.

Customers Bancorp (NYSE:CUBI) Earns Media Impact Rating of 0.09
The bank reported $0.71 EPS for the quarter, topping the Thomson Reuters' consensus estimate of $0.62 by $0.09. (NYSE:CUBI). Bowling Management Limited Liability Corporation stated it has 0.11% of its portfolio in Customers Bancorp, Inc.

"All told there have been at least five requests for more information, but so far none has been provided".

"Direct participation in the destruction of evidence is an extraordinarily serious matter", Wyden said. Ms. Haspel's nomination will then be considered in a vote by the entire Senate.

Despite the vocal opposition, many senators said Haspel has done a good job.

But Republicans who back the nomination are likely to point to the memo in an effort to rebut criticisms of her.

"The CIA has not been forthcoming, and Senators Wyden, Heinrich and I have again asked for declassification of relevant documents".
