Official pace auto of 102nd Indianapolis 500 unveiled

This year will mark the 15th time a Corvette has served as the official pace auto of the race and the 29th time that a Chevrolet has led the field. In a press release this morning, they also mention it will be the 15th Corvette pace auto.

The 102nd Indianapolis 500 is now just a few weeks away. It also will have a complement of strobe lights built in to make it as visible as possible. Next month, at the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500, the ZR1 will also hit the track as the race's official pace vehicle.

"Chevrolet is proud to once again pace the Indianapolis 500", said Steve Majoros, marketing director for Cars and Crossovers. "The ZR1 is the most powerful and fastest Corvette ever made".

The relationship between Chevy and IMS dates back to the first Indy 500 in 1911, the same year the company was founded. Arthur Chevrolet competed in that first race and his brother, Gaston Chevrolet, won the race in 1920.

Traders Purchase High Volume of Call Options on Boardwalk Pipeline Partners (BWP)
The shares of the company (BWP) staged the smart recovery as has roared back some 11.47% after stumbling to its new 52-weeks low. Finally, TheStreet cut Boardwalk Pipeline Partners from a "b-" rating to a "c+" rating in a report on Friday, January 19th.

According to Indianapolis Motor Speedway president J. Douglas Boles, "Chevrolet and IMS enjoy one of the longest-running and strongest bonds in motorsports". In honor of the occasion, Chevrolet displayed a 2019 Corvette ZR1 on the track's straightaway earlier today alongside 14 other Corvettes that have paced the race.

Odds are the pace vehicle won't be stretching its legs that much, but it would be a heck-tacle of a spectacle to see all 30-some-odd contenders ripping a parade lap at the ZR1's top speed of 212 miles per hour.

Chevrolet is pursuing its seventh consecutive IndyCar manufacturer championship this year, building on a successful 2017 season that saw 10 wins out of 17 races.
