Trump Continues Attacks On Comey Amid Promotion Of Tax Cut Victory

Speaking to George Stephanopoulos at his Virginia home, Comey doubled down on his take of Trump being a volatile, immoral, mob boss of a leader who has no regard for law or order.

The Republican National Committee also created a website, lyincomey.com, using an insult first used in a tweet by Trump, to attack Comey.

"Under the optimistic assumption that the attorney general had any control over President Trump, I then took the opportunity to implore him to prevent any future one-on-one communications between the president and me". The former are vital to the Russian Federation investigation and the questions it raises, including whether Trump obstructed justice. Trump has repeatedly called the investigation a witch hunt and denied any collusion. He added: "But you can not have, as president of the United States, someone who does not reflect the values that I believe Republicans treasure and Democrats treasure and independents treasure". Ryan, asked whether Comey was a man of integrity, said, "As far as I know" but added that he did not know him well. "I wish I wasn't saying it, but it's the truth".

"I (would have) been able to say with high confidence about any other President I dealt with, but I can't". The president began assailing Comey even before the interview came out.

During the interview Comey made it clear that he does not believe President Donald Trump belongs in his position and that Trump does not adhere to the core values of the nation.

The former FBI Director said that he was "actually nervous" to meet Trump in person.

Comey's remarks are the latest salvo in a war of words with Trump, who excoriated the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director on Twitter earlier in the day, again calling him a "slimeball" and suggesting he should be jailed. "Impeachment, in a way, would short-circuit that".

Comey is now a crucial witness for Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into whether Trump has tried to obstruct the Russian Federation probe. Comey responded, "Possibly. It's certainly some evidence of obstruction of justice". "It's possible." However, Comey said he was against the idea of Trump being impeached and removed from office "because it would let the American people off the hook, and have something happen indirectly, that I believe they're duty bound to do directly" - that is, vote Trump out of office. Comey himself is an example of this on many occasions, resorting to clickbait insults and self-righteous self-indulgence to sell books.

That seemed to energize the Kings and for the first period of the nine in the series Vegas looked a bit unsure of themselves. Fleury fortified the Golden Knights' net for the entire second period before Eakin tied the game 1:10 into the third frame.

Trump has said he fired Comey because of his handling of the FBI's investigation into Clinton's email practices.

Appearing separately on CNN on Monday, RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said "it's part of our job to push back". Trump said in one of a series of tweets fired off Sunday before the interview.

The President and his allies have launched a forceful counterattack. He questioned Comey's intelligence and place in history, writing, "Slippery James Comey, a man who always ends up badly and out of whack (he is not smart!), will go down as the WORST FBI Director in history, by far!".

Asked if the president wanted the Justice Department to investigate Comey, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Sunday on ABC's "This Week" that she was not aware of a specific request. It did not become publicly known until after the 2016 presidential election.

"This guy swung an election", she told George Stephanopoulos.

"Contributing to this problem, regrettably, was President Obama".

Comey's book, "A Higher Loyalty", drives the publicity. He had some harsh words for President Donald Trump. Comey said Trump talked about that allegation at least four times, and stressed that it couldn't be true because Trump told Comey he was a germophobe.
