Major flooding in NYC subway system

- Heavy rains in New York City caused problems at subway stations all across Manhattan.

"As happens during heavy storms like today's, water is entering some stations from the street".

Video posted on social media showed water cascading down the stairs, flooding the platforms Monday.

Bryant Park subway station also closed temporarily after floodwater was seen dripping from the ceiling.

Meanwhile, Russia says it will help secure visit of global chemical weapons inspectors to site of an alleged attack in Syria. Israel has struck Syrian military targets before and was blamed for strikes earlier this month on the T4 air base in Homs.

Trains eventually avoided this stop to keep riders out of harm's way.

Several areas in New York City experienced at least 3 inches of rain over a six- to eight-hour period, resulting in flooding and travel delays.

The flooding comes as New York's upcoming gubernatorial race heats up. Nixon in her campaign video announcement referenced the New York City subway, calling the system "broken".
