Injured Steelers LB Shazier able to stand at Ohio State spring game

"I'm doing a thousand times better than I was in December and I'm just thanking everybody and all the prayers because that's definitely helping me get a lot better". That's how Burrow rested his case - for the spring at least - in his bid to be the Buckeyes' starting quarterback in 2018. So we're going to have some very good meetings. "I want to play somewhere". I feel it's going to happen and I know Shazier believes it's going to happen.

-THE GAME GOES ON: Meyer said he was happy the spring game was played despite an ominous weather forecast earlier in the week that led MI and Wisconsin to cancel their spring games.

Ohio State opens its 2018 season at home against Oregon State on September 1.

Redshirt junior Joe Burrow was among the people who thought it might be Haskins' job to lose, but head coach Urban Meyer and quarterbacks coach Ryan Day promised Burrow the spring competition would be a fair chance.

"I want to see all the data, everything we did all spring", Meyer said. "I just sit back and put my nose to the grindstone and work, and that's what I've done for three years. You have to step back and evaluate some things and meet with your coach and see what they're thinking, what you're thinking", Burrow said. Those spring-game performances were for the backup job.

Here's Why Nick Saban Couldn't Hire Hugh Freeze
This is a result of Freeze's dismissal from Ole Miss and the NCAA infractions that took place at the school while he was there. Freeze is now facing a two-game suspension if he is hired as a head coach before November 30 due to NCAA infractions.

Ohio State will return its top six receivers from last season.

"Joe has to be one of the most-improved quarterback with delivery speed and arm", Meyer said.

Burrow went into preaseason practice last season listed as the back-up to four-year starter J.T. Barrett but when he suffered a broken hand in late August the depth chart was rearranged. "Objective No. 2 was a lot of recruits come here and it's kind of nice to showcase every year that we lead the country (in spring game attendance)". That's Haskins pinch-hitting for J.T. Barrett in the second half of a 31-20 victory against MI in 2017. If Burrow stays around that long. Meyer said the hope is to keep all three quarterbacks for the regular season, but there's still a lot to sort out. It's a compelling one, and now we wait for the decision.

The therapists are like, 'Man this is insane; I've never seen anyone work this hard.' They nearly see progression every day. If I were to leave it would be pretty devastating for me.
