Syria says Western attack 'doomed to fail'

It famously was on a backdrop banner when President George W. Bush stood on the deck of an aircraft carrier in May 2003 and prematurely declared victory in Iraq.

Mr Bush addressed sailors aboard a Navy ship in May 2003 alongside a "Mission Accomplished" banner, just weeks before it became apparent that Iraqis had organised an insurgency that would tie down U.S. forces for years.

And she said President Donald Trump told her Saturday morning that if the Syrian regime uses poisonous gas again "the United States is locked and loaded" to strike again. It is such a great Military term, it should be brought back, he wrote.

These missile strikes were coordinated by the U.S., France and the U.K.in response to an alleged chemical attack by the Syrian government in Douma last week. That attack, [Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White says], hit a Syrian military air base and was meant to focus on Syria's ability to deliver chemical weapons.

French President Emmanuel Macron said France had joined the U.S. and United Kingdom because "we can not tolerate the recurring use of chemical weapons, which is an immediate danger for the Syrian people and our collective security".

"A perfectly executed strike last night", Mr Trump tweeted early Saturday.

Haley also said the United States would not pull its troops out of Syria before three goals have been accomplished: defeating Islamic State militants, ensuring chemical weapons will not be used and maintaining the ability to watch Iran.

On Saturday, a team of United Nations chemical experts arrived in Syria to investigate whether Assad's government was responsible for the attack a week ago.

US stocks closed higher on Thursday as shareholders digested most recent corporate earnings reports and major economic data. Following the transaction, the director now owns 80,581 shares in the company, valued at approximately $2,484,312.23.

It is the biggest intervention by Western powers against Assad in Syria's seven-year civil war, and has pitted the USA and its allies against Moscow.

She blamed the Security Council and Russia's actions for failing in its duty to hold those who use chemical weapons to account. But he appeared to contradict that message when he said on Saturday that Western allies were prepared to "sustain" the military response if Assad does not stop using prohibited chemical weapons.

The U.S. has denied that assertion and called the group's mission "essential" to a complete understanding of what chemical agents were used.

That should send an unmistakable message to Assad, as well as to the enabling nations of Russian Federation and Iran and regimes in North Korea, China and elsewhere that may be considering a test of Western resolve.

McKenzie described one site, the Barzah Research and Development Center, near Damascus, as a "core" facility for Syria's chemical-weapons program.

Russian Federation filed a draft resolution condemning the missile attack as a violation of worldwide law and the UN Charter, and demanding the United States and its allies cease aggression against Syria. The United States of America will not allow the Assad regime to continue to use chemical weapons.

Nebenzya accused the United States, Britain, and France of "hooliganism" and of "demonstrating a blatant disregard for worldwide law". "So, it was mission accomplished", said White, the Pentagon spokeswoman.

Syrians deserve better than a choice between the evils of Assad and the poison of terrorism, she said.
