Silva reflects on 'most special' City title after premature birth of son

Former Barcelona coach Terry Venables has paid tribute to Pep Guardiola after Manchester City were confirmed as Premier League champions on Sunday.

Manchester City this season has produced some of the most breathtaking soccer the Premier League has ever seen.

The Blues could have made history though and taken the title sooner if they hadn't lost 3-2 against Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium.

City, who rebounded from the United loss and a European exit at the hands of Liverpool by beating Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 at Wembley on Saturday, have 87 points with five games left.

Other players, like Raheem Sterling, knew they had to shape up to even feature in such a competitive environment.

"I'm buzzing, over the moon, so happy". But a frantic pre-season transfer window turbo-charged the team and City out-passed and out-scored everyone else.

Apparently club superstars like Claudio Bravo and Phil Foden would be playing in City's final game of the season as well. They started to do it with such an emphatic win over Spurs, but can now take it further by eroding so many records.

Here's what pundits, managers and players have said after City won the league...

They still have a seven-point buffer over Chelsea in the race for the Champions League and boss Mauricio Pochettino is content.

"It's more complicated. But I think for the club, not just the players, all the departments in the club can believe".

Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne applauds fans after the match against Bristol City.

"We are able to win two games".

Henceforth, City would eye surpassing Chelsea's record 95 points accumulated in a single season.

"Pep's beliefs determine how his team play, the way I wanted my teams to play, so put me down as one of his admirers".

Guardiola said in March that Mateo was "doing well" and, following confirmation of City's title triumph, Silva thanked fans on social media for their support during a "tough year", attaching a photo of himself holding his son.

"Yeah, its special, I'm privileged to be part of such a great group, great players, good guys, good mentality, good atmosphere in the team, every single time I'm on the pitch I enjoy it".

"Eight titles are eight titles and three Premier Leagues are three Premier Leagues".
