Seahawks Rumors: Colin Kaepernick Still in Mix After Austin Davis' New Contract

The Seattle Seahawks continued to add depth behind Russell Wilson by re-signing fellow quarterback Austin Davis, the team announced Monday.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported the Seahawks' talks with Kaepernick are in a "holding pattern", but nothing has been decided.

Kaepernick's meeting with the Seahawks was postponed last week.

Kaepernick asserts in the suit that NFL owners colluded to keep him out of the league based on his social activism positions, which included kneeling during the national anthem prior to games to bring attention to police brutality and racial inequality.

NRF reported a 0.3% annual gain on a seasonally-adjusted basis from February to March, with annual retail sales in March up 5%. Sporting goods stores were down 0.9% year-over-year and down 1.8% from February seasonally adjusted.

Davis had seemed an obvious candidate to sign since he not only had experience with Seattle past year but also with new Seahawks offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer from 2012-14 with the Rams, starting eight games in 2014. The QB will get a veteran minimum deal, per Garafolo.Davis won the Seahawks backup gig last season.

In other news, three exclusive rights free agents have signed their tenders: center Joey Hunt, defensive end Branden Jackson, and long snapper Tyler Ott. He appeared in three games, attempting zero passes in 2017.The 28-year-old clipboard holder last started a game in 2015 with the Cleveland Browns.

Seattle now has 66 players under contract for the 2018 season.
