Dr Manjunath condemns statement of MLA Dinesh Gundu Rao

BJP's Yuva Morcha is set to courier toothpaste and toothbrushes to Congress Karnataka unit working president and national spokesperson Dinesh Gundu Rao for calling Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath "dongi" (false) and saying the people of Karnataka will chase him away over the Unnao rape issue.

Gundu rao reportedly made the remark at an event organised by the Congress to condemn the Kathua and Unnao rape incidents and demand justice for the victims.

"If he comes next time to Karnataka, he should be beaten with your sandals".

Deeming his comments to be "an emotional outburst", Rao insisted that the Yogi Adityanath government should be criticised for its way of handling the Unnao rape case. "Drive him out." Later, while speaking to news agency ANI, Rao had said, "Mr.Adityanath is a disgrace to Indian politics, he is unfit to be CM of Uttar Pradesh, if he had any decency he would have resigned by now".

The BJP came down heavily on these statements and chose to launch a state wide agitation against the comments.

Sate BJP President and Lingayat strongman BS Yeddyurappa called the remark disrespectful of a saint from the Nath community and demanded an apology from the Congress.

The BJP holds the protest in the state's capital Bengaluru against Congress leader Dinesh Gundurao's "inciting remarks" on UP CM Yogi Adityanath. The mutt has a close relationship with Adichunchanagiri Mutt in Karnataka and both are of Natha panth. "I sympathise with you and your party's culture", Yeddyurappa tweeted. "The BJP would launch statewide agitation against Rao and the Congress party", he said.
